Human Resource the most important resource
Humans are known as the most intelligent and adaptive species of the world. Which make them more superior in many ways. Even in organizations and businesses humans are always involved as a key resource. Most of the time all most all the operations of an
organization are carried out by people. Even when there are highly systematic
and automated working environment, the organizations need people to operate
them.

Human Resource Management - HRM
In the past there was no specific consideration given to the human resources of organizations rather than providing basic welfare needs.
Subsequently a separate
department called “Personal Department” was introduced in order to fulfil Payroll,
Recruitment, Leave Records, Promotions, Discipline, Welfare and Etc. but still
only a little attention was paid to Employee satisfaction, Opportunity to learn
and grow, Aspiration of individuals and Preparation for the future, Etc.
During the last 30 years these
issues related to HR have become major concerns of Higher management and as a
result, “Human Resource Management” was invented in order to carryout
organizational activities more effectively. Also, Human Resource Management directs the
right people at right places and guides them with a view of carrying out the
organizational functions smoothly without any interruption.
"Human Resource managements is the strategic approach of management of an organizations most valuable asset - The people who work for that organization and who individually and collectively contribute to the achievement of objectives of the business". (Simons,R;,2011)

Why Human Resource is different
Human Resource is different form all the other resources of an organization. Therefor a special care and recognition must be given due it`s special characteristics.
- The Most important Resource
Compared to other resources, the
Human Resource is very unique. People are capable of contributing to
organization's excellence more than any other resources. People see
opportunities, makes decisions and contribute the organizations to move forward.
- Potential for continuous
Upgrading
The ability to think and learn is
the most outstanding characteristic of the Human Resource which in return helps
the organizations to be innovative and to adapt towards continuous growth.
In an organization the assets and
other resources will depreciate over time or the inherited value will remain
the same. But in the case of HR as the time passes by, through experience and specialization learning the inherited value will increase. Therefor HR is the only resource
that will appreciate over time.
- No Stranded to Specify the Capacity
Every other resource has a capacity of performance. E.g.:- Machines, Vehicles, etc. But Human Resource does not have such standard or measurement to specified capacity. Since the capacity of human resource varies under different circumstances such as knowledge, skills, attitudes, experience, motivational factors, etc.
- The Costliest among all Resource
Human Resource incurs a significantly high cost when it comes to profit of the organization since the Salaries and Wedges represents a higher portion of expenses. Human Resource is needed even for the most sophisticated machines and equipment.
- Possibility of deteriorating
in attitudes
Employees may not continue to perform as
same because of various reasons. Mostly due to changes in mental or physical conditions and other environmental factors.

Conclusion
As discussed Human resource is extraordinary compared to other resources and must be handled with lot of care. It can contribute towards the growth of an organization by correctly employing people, training them, developing their talents, maintaining and rewarding them for their service as appropriate according to the needs of organization by implementing a personalized HRM process.

DeleteAs a subject HRM is a huge topic to discuss, but here in this post it is clearly defines the subject of HRM in a very short explanation. How important human resources management to an organization.
ReplyDeleteI considered adding a few extra details to help people to a better understanding about the HRM journey. Before late 1930s, labors were treated as slaves there were no value for human efforts. After 1930’s Mayo (1933), who founded the human relations school. McGregor (1960) who recognised that the needs of both the organisation and the individual need to be recognised. Then there it was transformed from labor management to personal management, and finally during 1980s, it was reborn as HRM. Thereafter, HRM began to play a significant part in an organization's overall performance by directing employees toward the ultimate goal.
I wish all the very best for your future blogs.!

DeleteHumans are an integral part of any organizations existence and success. The company's success is derived from its bottom-line employees to the corporate management. It is arguable, whether the employees are an asset to the organization or NOT? Well, it depends, a Highly motivated, smart worker is a real asset and its vise versa on the other side of it too. All key elements of HR are interlinked with each other, by stand one cannot effect alone or one's malfunction will have an impact on the others. For Example, if the Training and Development part is not fulfilled 100% you cannot expect optimum output from the employees.

ReplyDeleteWithout human resources (people), the organization's other resources would be unable to function, and the organization would be unable to achieve its defined goals. As a result, in order to expand and become competitive in the long run, a firm must invest in its personnel. True, this investment is costly, but well-trained, innovative, adaptive, motivated, and involved personnel in attaining the organization's goals produce beneficial improvements in all of its structures.
ReplyDeleteHuman resource management is a very important function, usually referred to as the core function of the organization.
